The Fort Knox Centennial stopped the Memphis Music, 4-1, at Ballpark of Baxter. The Centennial got a big game from Gonzalo Zarauza, who was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Roy Roberts, the winner, improved to 5-0. He held Memphis to 1 run on 2 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The save was credited to Tony Arce, his 4th.
Zarauza contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Fort Knox in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Zarauza took a fastball from Louis Bainbridge and stroked the home run to left-center. His 31st home run of the season allowed the Centennial to leap in front, 2-1.
In postgame comments, Zarauza told the Fort Knox Daily News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
The Centennial, at 68-16, have a comfortable 20½-game lead in their division.
