Fort Knox got a terrific game from shortstop Eric Buchanan. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Shady Side, 6-4. Buchanan was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jed Knight was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Shady Side, at 29-51, sits in last place in the Premier Low A.
With Shady Side leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Jesús Vázquez hit a 2-run single off Fort Knox pitcher Tony Arce. It put the Zoomies ahead 5-2.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Vázquez.
