Music Roll to 8-3 Win Over Hounds
|
The Hicksville Hounds and Memphis Music were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Memphis beat Hicksville on the strength of starter Davey de Haan's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-3. In 6.1 innings, de Haan surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs.
The Music got a big at-bat from left fielder Vincent Matthews. For the game, Matthews was 1 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Memphis a 3-0 lead.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said de Haan. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
Memphis, at 36-34, holds down 5th place in the Premier Low A.
