Thrilling Victory Pushes Hounds Win Streak to 6
|
The Hicksville Hounds racked up a win at Terriers Ballpark, bumping off the Shady Side Zoomies, 3-2. Domingo Gonzáles, who started for Hicksville, pitched effectively for his team. The winner in relief was Dean Bradley. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 8-6. Hicksville has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
Hicksville got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Augusto Flores. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Hounds ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
During his postgame press conference, Hounds manager Phil Carroll told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
