Flamingos Fall to Cattlemen, 9-5
|
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Santiago Harmon, the Las Vegas Flamingos lost to the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 9-5. Harmon was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Jack Buyse, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. Ft. Worth is now 18-12, while Las Vegas is 15-15.
With runs few and far between, the Cattlemen had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Ft. Worth came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when left fielder Leland Sigurdson delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Alan Halsall and made the score 2-1, Cattlemen. Sigurdson went 1-5.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Sigurdson.
