Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Memphis Music got the win.
Memphis got a strong outing from Gus Morris as the Music defeated the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 4-2, at The Target. Morris went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-2.
In the top of the fifth, with Memphis leading 2-1, first baseman Yerson Acevedo hit a run-scoring single. The hit came off Toshiki Hara and put the Music ahead, 3-1.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Memphis skipper Tom Christensen. "I can't complain."
The Music improved to 28-32.
