Hounds Cut Down Beavers, 8-1
|
Hicksville Hounds starter Ronald Gardner had all his pitches working at Hound Pound. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-1 Hicksville win over the Ballard Beavers. Gardner, now 1-1, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Hicksville is 7th in the Premier Low A with a record of 21-24.
The Hounds got an important contribution from center fielder Emory Frost, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 2-1 fastball into left for a bases-clearing double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Hounds ahead, 5-0.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Frost told the Hicksville Herald.
