|
Ballard Beavers starter Travis Martin turned in a top-notch performance against the Hicksville Hounds at Hound Pound. The result was a win for the Beavers, 5-1. Martin, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 1 walk. Ballard is now 25-18, Hicksville 19-24.
Ballard used the bat of Yue-jiu Ming to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Beavers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
Martin expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
