Hawks Pull Off Thrilling 7-6 Win in Extras
The Laredo Hawks wiggled past the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 7-6, at Smokies Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Laredo pitcher Lonnie Slaughter. Laredo reliever Tim Moore picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Rusty Collins shouldered the loss. Smoky Mountain now has a 5-game losing streak.

Laredo used the clutch hitting of Jesús Rivera to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Hawks ahead, 7-6. It was his lone hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Big win," said Slaughter.
