U-21 Upend Hounds, 2-1

The Athletic Club KC U-21 did just enough to secure a victory over the Hicksville Hounds, 2-1, at Hound Pound. Nobody did more than pitcher Jim Ball. Ball, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The victory gives the U-21 a record of 15-7.
Thad Conley had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Athletic Club KC. He came through with a solo home run to put Athletic Club KC in front, 2-0.
"If we keep winning the close games," Ball said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
