The Alameda Airmen downed the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 8-4, at Smokies Stadium. The Airmen were led by Tommy Spillman. He was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Bobby Dudley earned the win to go to 6-2. He allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Alameda is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Airmen benefited from a costly error in the top of the third. With Don Adams at bat and Alameda leading 1-0, the Smoky Mountain miscue allowed Alameda to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Spillman told the Alameda Chronicle.
