Arryns Deal Crawdads 5-3 Defeat
|
The Lake Erie Arryns beat the Cut Off Crawdads, 5-3, at Crawdads Field. The win was due in part to third baseman Eldon Church, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Li Knight earned the win for Lake Erie. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-7. Johnny Flannery earned the save for Lake Erie, his 17th of the year.
Church contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Lake Erie in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Church took a fastball from Henny Koolen and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Arryns to leap in front, 2-1.
"Winning is the only objective," said Church after the game.
The 5th-place Arryns are 38-37.
