The South Beach Blaze dealt the Alameda Airmen a 5-2 loss at The Ballpark on the Beach. Greg Collins was the star on offense. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. South Beach reliever Ketema El Hindi picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kelly McCarthy absorbed the loss. South Beach has an impressive 35-17 record.

The Airmen had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Blaze going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old third baseman Robert Newman came to the plate. Newman hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Alameda hurler Kelly McCarthy. It was Newman's 2nd home run of the year.

"We've got a great group of guys," Collins said, "and we're having fun right now."
