Airmen Suffer 5-4 Setback
The Alameda Airmen and Laredo Hawks provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Laredo Hawks topped the Alameda Airmen, 5-4, with first baseman Esteban Reyes playing a big role. Reyes went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Hawks in the win. The winning pitcher was Robert Joubert. His record is now 1-0. The left-hander went 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits for the Hawks. Rusty Russell picked up the save, his 1st.

Michael Mitchell drove in one run for Laredo. In the top of the second, with the teams deadlocked, 0-0, Mitchell delivered for the Hawks. His run-scoring ground out put Laredo on top, 1-0.

In comments to the Laredo Herald, Mitchell admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."

At 30-21, the Hawks find themselves in second place in the Premier A.
