Hobeaus Snatch Late Win
|
The Cut Off Crawdads got a sterling performance from pitcher David Roberts, but the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus still prevailed, 3-0. Roberts threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Smoky Mountain reliever Seppo Seppänen, now 5-1. The loser was Al Hussey. The 5th-place Hobeaus have a record of 23-23.
Smoky Mountain used the timely hitting of Mike Orchard to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hobeaus ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Orchard.
