Seahawks Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus got a superb performance from pitcher Héctor Peña, but the Myrtle Beach Seahawks still won the game, 3-2. Peña threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The 9th-place Seahawks are now 17-27, the Hobeaus 21-23.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Ricardo Garza came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Smoky Mountain pitcher Yok-sing Zhou, he hit a 0-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Myrtle Beach on top, 3-2.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Tom Oglander, the Myrtle Beach skipper.
