Fading Vandals Lose 10th Straight
|
Columbia right-hander Lonnie Dixon pitched his team to victory over the Eugene Vandals at The Riot Zone. The final score was 6-1. The losses continue to add up for Eugene, which has now fallen 10 times in a row.
Columbia used the timely hitting of Pete Hill to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Rats on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I thought we were prepared," Eugene manager José Cervantes said after the game. "I thought we'd be more competitive out there."
