Hobeaus Come Back Late to Top Yinzers, 3-2
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus scored a tight 3-2 win versus the Monroeville Yinzers at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Smoky Mountain pitcher Jim Mack held his own in the contest. Mack, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Picking up the save was Yok-sing Zhou, his 4th.
The outcome might have been different for Smoky Mountain, had it not been for Anastasio García, the 20-year old right fielder . García stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Smoky Mountain up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Smoky Mountain manager Gilberto Chávez.
The Yinzers fall to 6-11 and continue their sub-.500 start to the 2052 season.
