River Rats Beat Mangos, 7-4
|
The Kingston Mangos got a sterling performance from pitcher Orlando Guevara, but the Columbia River Rats still prevailed, 7-4. Guevara came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Columbia starter Hubert Reed was credited with the win after throwing 104 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-5. Tomás Silva closed it out for his 6th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for John Weber? The Columbia right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the River Rats on top, 4-1. For the game, Weber had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"This was a good win for us," said Weber. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
After today's action, Columbia sits at 52-31, while Kingston falls to 35-48.
