River Rats Score 4-1 Win Over Grand Forks
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars and Columbia River Rats were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Columbia starter Lonnie Dixon put a stranglehold on the Grand Forks offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the River Rats to a 4-1 win. Dixon, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Tomás Silva closed the game out for Columbia, earning his 4th save.
Columbia used the timely hitting of Max Hoban to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the River Rats on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We've got a great group of guys," Dixon said, "and we're having fun right now."
After today's action, Columbia sits at 49-28, while Grand Forks falls to 45-32.
