Losing Streak Continues for Vandals with 6-4 Loss to Reapers
The Grim Reapers had to overcome a big game from Eugene third baseman Lorenzo Clemente to leave The Coffin with a victory. And they did, winning 6-4. Clemente went 2-3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Anastasio Méndez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-4. Santiago Arévalo was tagged with the loss. António Gómez earned the save, his 6th.

Also having an impact was third baseman Wayne Schmidt, who stroked a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth for Grim. For the game, Schmidt went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Schmidt told the Grim Observer. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."

The losing streak for Eugene has now reached 10 games.
