Manatees Win, 1-0, Versus Hermit Crabs
|
In a low-scoring game between the Matlacha Manatees and the Huntington Hermit Crabs, pitcher Brian Payne was masterful on the mound. The Matlacha right-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Payne got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. Payne allowed no runs. The victory gives the Manatees a record of 23-22.
With runs few and far between, the Manatees had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Matlacha came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when catcher Sean Knight delivered a run-scoring single.
