The Eugene Vandals did just enough to secure a victory over the Matlacha Manatees, 4-3, at Fuller Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Octávio Olivaies. Olivaies got the win, improving to 1-5. Eugene used the timely hitting of Werner Andrews to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Vandals ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
