Hermit Crabs Win Again, 6-2, Extend Streak to 7
|
A good performance from left fielder Edwardo Brochado helped the Huntington Hermit Crabs defeat the Kingston Mangos, 6-2. Brochado was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Hermit Crabs. Ralph Thompson earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The Hermit Crabs, now 15-2, have stormed out of the gates.
Huntington used a well-timed hit by Rich Williamson to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Hermit Crabs ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I thought we played a nice game," Williamson told the Huntington Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
