The Yucca Valley Yellows got a superb performance from pitcher Robby Sloan. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Matlacha. The Manatees won the game, 5-3. Sloan threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Vic Byrd finished the game for Matlacha and earned his 1st save. The Manatees raised their record to 2-1.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Frank Chang was at the plate when Matlacha scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Manatees to go in front, 4-3.

Chang said his team "played with focus."
