The Eugene Vandals got a sterling performance from designated hitter Gerardo Rosas, but the Columbia River Rats still prevailed, 8-4. Rosas went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tomás Silva collected save number 1. With the win, Columbia is 2-0.
Columbia took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Max Hoban hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, River Rats.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Hoban.
