New Orleans third baseman Francisco Alhama contributed to his team's 6-3 win over the Baltimore Bullets. Alhama, who is tied for 8th in the PL in RBI with 59, went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Voodoo. Bill Lawrence, now 8-3, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Herman Stone, credited with the save, is now 13 for 18 in save opportunities.
Tom Smythe, who finished 5th in the PL in doubles with 27 in 2042, contributed to the New Orleans win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Smythe.
New Orleans improves to 71-37 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
