Close Win Moves Godfathers to 19-35
|
In a tight game between the Pontiac Godfathers and the Chicago Tula, pitcher John Sackett was terrific on the mound. The Pontiac right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. In 6.2 innings, Sackett surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Vicente Arroyo closed it out for his 12th save.
Tim MacPherson had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Pontiac. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Pontiac in front, 2-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," MacPherson told a Pontiac Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The Godfathers raised their record to 19-35.
