Merza Lifts Cangrejos Fantasmas to 12-4 Win
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas defeated the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 12-4, at Ghost Crab Park. Chesapeake right fielder Armando Merza had a superb performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 7. Chesapeake pitcher Roberto Silva got the win. He's now 10-6. Oliver Haddow was tagged with the loss. The Cangrejos Fantasmas, at 55-39, sit in third place in the Premier AA.

Merza contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Chesapeake in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Merza took a cutter from Oliver Haddow and stroked the home run to left-center. His 22nd home run of the season allowed the Cangrejos Fantasmas to leap in front, 4-1.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Merza told the Chesapeake Bulletin.
