Expos Suffer 8-4 Setback
|
The Caldwell Chiefs knocked off the Niagara Falls Expos, 8-4, at Pipers Ballpark. Kerkko Kivikoski hit 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 3 runs. The winning pitcher was B.J. McLean. He's now 2-3. He went 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits for the Chiefs. Norbert van Poppel earned the save for Caldwell, his 6th.
With Caldwell leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Carlos Manuel hit a run-scoring single off Niagara Falls pitcher Ernst Ayotte. It put the Chiefs ahead 4-2.
In comments to the Caldwell Bulletin, Kivikoski admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
The Chiefs sit in 10th place in the Menard's A with a record of 10-11.
