Fighting Imps Suffer 3-1 Setback
|
Mercer Island beat Ithaca on the strength of starter Geoffrey Da Costa's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Masafumi Yoshino, credited with the win, is now 4-4. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits. The 'W' lifts Mercer Island's record to 55-34.
Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Leon Wright to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We've got a great group of guys," Da Costa said, "and we're having fun right now."
