The fans at Pipers Ballpark witnessed quite a game.

The Caldwell Chiefs had to overcome a good performance from Niagara Falls pitcher Arnie Lucas to claim a 3-2 win at Pipers Ballpark. Lucas went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Norbert van Poppel earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record is now 1-1.

The Chiefs relied on second baseman Kerkko Kivikoski for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"Every loss hurts," said Niagara Falls manager Mackenzie Bolen. "But this was a tough one."

Caldwell goes to 9-10.
