Ritter, Pierogis Too Much for Screaming Eagles
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
Aaron Ritter impressed in the 5-2 Squirrel Hill win over Mercer Island. Ritter, who is tied for 4th in the PAA with a .383 on-base percentage, went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The save went to Manuel Peña, number 4 for him.
Squirrel Hill took a 5-2 lead on Ritter's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Dave Franks in the top of the eighth, propelled Squirrel Hill to the win.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Squirrel Hill manager Aaron Barnes.
The Pierogis, now 35-32, have won 5 in a row.
