The Squirrel Hill Pierogis picked up a win at Field of the Rawhides, knocking off the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 9-4. Starting pitcher Gerrit Provoost played a key role in the triumph. Provoost went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. The 7th-place Pierogis improved to 27-29.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jov Shantsev went deep for the Pierogis. With Squirrel Hill trailing 1-0, he drilled a solo home run.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Squirrel Hill skipper Aaron Barnes.
