The Virginia Beach Whales topped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 7-3, in USPL Double A action at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Virginia Beach pitcher José Hernández. Hernández, now 4-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up no hits, while striking out 2, walking 7, and allowing 1 run. Shawn Walker earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 8th of the year.

One pivotal at-bat came with two out in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded and Ft. Polk South trailing 5-1, Kelsey Conrad needed to bear down against Andrew Brown. Conrad won the battle, as Brown grounded out and the Whales went on to win.

The triumph puts Virginia Beach at 27-18 for the season.
