|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles got a sterling performance from third baseman Seppo Kimmonen, but the Squirrel Hill Pierogis still prevailed, 7-4. Kimmonen slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Luis García earned the win for Squirrel Hill. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Tetsu Gato closed it out for his 2nd save.
The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the third inning, when the Pierogis were trailing 1-0. Bartolo Foreman delivered a two-out 3-run home run for Squirrel Hill, catapulting his team into the lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Foreman told the Squirrel Hill Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The loss makes Mercer Island 21-12.
