The Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Mercer Island Screaming Eagles starter Dave Pickett turned in an exceptional performance against the Squirrel Hill Pierogis at Field of the Rawhides, resulting in a Mercer Island win, 4-1. Tashiaki Takahashi earned the save, his 2nd, for the Screaming Eagles.

Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Robert Newman to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Pickett.

The Screaming Eagles have an impressive 20-11 record.
