8-5 Loss to Mockingbirds Extends Oakland Losing Streak
|
Oakland got a terrific game from designated hitter Pineki Walekino. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Mississippi, 8-5. Walekino went 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Noud Taaij got the win, improving to 14-4. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 5. The Oaks, now 41-53, have lost 6 in a row.
Marços Mansilha, who finished 3rd in the PL in doubles with 34 last year, aided the Mississippi cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 4.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Mansilha said.
