Fighting Imps Earn 7-3 Win Against Cangrejos Fantasmas
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps topped the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 7-3, with shortstop Nelson Fernández playing a big role. Fernández went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Fighting Imps in the win. Ángel Hernández, now 1-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Ithaca is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Fernández hit a fastball from Jeff Filareta for a grand slam home run. The Fighting Imps, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Fighting Imps manager Albert Pérez. "This one was nice to get."
