Whales CF Cruz slugs 2 home runs in Win
Virginia Beach left fielder José Cruz played a vital role in his team's 8-5 triumph over Ft. Polk South. He hit 2 home runs for Virginia Beach. The second-place Whales have won 5 in a row.

The Whales grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With two out, Jim Willis hit a 3-run home run off Scott Smith, putting Virginia Beach in front, 4-2. For Willis, it was his 2nd home run of the season.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Willis told the Virginia Beach Times.
