Whales Defeat Pierogis, 5-4
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis got a superb performance from left fielder Jacob Cox. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Virginia Beach. The Whales won the game, 5-4. Cox was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The save went to Carlos Martínez, his 2nd this season. The Pierogis fall to 6-11 and continue their lackluster start to the 2052 season.

Virginia Beach needed the clutch hitting of Jim Willis to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Whales on top, 5-4. For the game, Willis had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Virginia Beach manager Marv Bradford.
