Whales Top Turbeaus in Extras, 6-5
|
Gulf Coast left fielder Ken Hines had a good game, even if his team did not. The Turbeaus dropped a 6-5 decision to Virginia Beach at Mobile Home Park. Hines went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Gulf Coast is now 8-4.
Virginia Beach used the timely hitting of Darren Overton to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Whales on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments, Overton said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
