Screaming Eagles Drop Pierogis, 7-2

Jean Kools left his imprint on the 7-2 Mercer Island win against the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. Kools, who is rated as the 46th best prospect by BNN, went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Todd Huff in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ed Jenkins took the loss. It was the 7th win in 10 games this year for the defending champion Screaming Eagles, who are picking up where they left off.
The Screaming Eagles got an important contribution from third baseman Seppo Kimmonen, who in the bottom of the third hit a fastball into left-center for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 6-0.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Kimmonen told the Mercer Island Times. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
