Jeffrey Sparks impressed in the 8-5 Ithaca win over Virginia Beach. Sparks went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ithaca reliever Dewitt Page picked up the win to move to 1-0. Shawn Walker suffered the loss. Ithaca is now 1-3.

Takeo Okamoto provided a timely hit. The Ithaca center fielder delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Fighting Imps on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Sparks.
