The Providence Pilgrims bested the Barton Springs Blues, 8-6, at Blues Field. Armando Gómez was one of the standouts. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The second-place Pilgrims now have a win-loss record of 58-44.
Providence used a timely hit from Jason Thrower to get the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pilgrims ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll savor this win," Gómez told the Providence Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
