Werner Hayes was a vital contributor to the 5-4 St. Petersburg victory over Lake Minnetonka. The Thunder right fielder went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times. St. Petersburg reliever Juan López picked up the win to move to 2-0. Chip Moore suffered the loss. The Thunder are now 47-53, while the Love Boats fall to 50-50.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With St. Petersburg trailing 4-3, Sibrand Boermeester hit a fastball from Chip Moore to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Thunder had a walk-off win.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Boermeester said.
