Gómez Leads Pilgrims to Win
|
Armando Gómez helped his team muscle past the Billings Polar Bears, 7-2. In the game, the Providence right fielder was 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Mark Hogan. His record is now 7-7. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits for the Pilgrims. Providence's record now stands at 54-40, placing them second in the Silver AA.
Ryan Sánchez was 1-5 for Providence. The 28-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Arnold Huber. It was his 21st RBI of the season.
"We did a lot of things right," said Sánchez.
