Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Guinea Pigs
|
The Billings Polar Bears and Gwinnett Guinea Pigs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs had to overcome a big game from Billings first baseman John Jones to leave The Igloo with a victory. And they did, winning 8-2. Jones was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jorge García came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-2.
Gwinnett third baseman Dale Wallace produced at a critical juncture. It happened in the top of the eighth with Bob Robinson on the mound and Gwinnett leading 3-2. Wallace drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"Things went our way," said Wallace.
After today's action, Gwinnett sits at 45-45, while Billings falls to 39-51.
