Atoms Pull Even With 7-6 Victory
|
Providence left fielder Jesús Sierra was sensational. He went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Bethesda beat the Pilgrims, 7-6. Brent Allen got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Pilgrims to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Tuomi Hattunen closed the door for Bethesda, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Sergio Reyes, who is tied for 7th in the SAA in stolen bases with 10, chipped in for Bethesda with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Bethesda manager Tabor de Maria.
With the win, Bethesda pushed its record to 44-44.
