Atoms Take Down Dolphins, 3-2

Both teams had their chances, but the Bethesda Atoms eventually prevailed.
Pine Island got a valiant performance from pitcher Brent Richardson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bethesda Atoms. Bethesda won the game, 3-2. Richardson threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Kyle Young, credited with the win, is now 6-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits.
Bethesda used a timely hit from Alfredo Ruíz to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Atoms ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Every loss hurts," said Pine Island manager Chua-kah Liu. "But this was a tough one."
Pine Island's current losing streak is now 8 games.
